FXTM Appoints Darren Moffett as Chief Marketing Officer

Exinity has appointed former OANDA executive Darren Moffett as chief marketing officer of its FXTM brand. He will lead global marketing, product development and client acquisition from London.

FXTM Appoints Darren Moffett as Chief Marketing Officer

Financial services group Exinity has appointed Darren Moffett as chief marketing officer (CMO) of its FXTM brand. Moffett, a former OANDA executive, will be based in London and will lead FXTM's global marketing strategy, product development and client acquisition efforts. The move adds a senior marketing leader to one of the group's best-known retail trading brands.

Exinity operates several retail trading brands. Alongside FXTM, the group owns the established forex broker Alpari and the stock trading app Nemo. Bringing in a CMO with a large-scale brokerage background signals that the group wants to focus on how its brands reach and retain clients, not only on the products they offer.

Who Is Darren Moffett?

Darren Moffett is a marketing executive with experience at both established forex brokers and mainstream digital businesses. Before he moved into online trading, he held senior digital and performance marketing roles in media, gaming and banking. His previous employers include News UK, Rank Group and the Bank of Montreal.

Performance marketing is a discipline built on measurable results: acquisition cost, conversion from sign-up to funded account, and the long-term value of each client. Experience in media and gaming matters here because those sectors have spent years refining how they attract and retain users online. Banking adds a background in regulated, customer-facing products, which is relevant for an industry where clients need to trust the firm they deposit money with.

Five Years Leading Marketing at OANDA

Before joining FXTM, Moffett spent almost five years as global chief marketing officer at OANDA. That role covered the brand's marketing across its international client base, giving him direct experience of building awareness for a forex and CFD broker in a crowded market.

During his time at OANDA, he also served on the board of Coinpass, the company's cryptocurrency division. That board seat gives him exposure to digital assets, a segment where marketing rules, client expectations and competition differ from traditional forex and CFD trading.

Why the Move Comes at a Time of Change at OANDA

The appointment follows a period of leadership change at OANDA. The brokerage was acquired by proprietary trading firm FTMO in December 2025, and several senior executives have since left the company. Among them were CEO Gavin Bambury and CTO Eoin McCoy.

Executive departures after an acquisition are common, and this announcement does not say why Moffett left OANDA. What is clear is that he is moving from one of the best-known names in retail forex to a different group, and that his new remit is focused on growth and client acquisition at FXTM.

What the CMO Role Covers at FXTM

According to the announcement, Moffett's responsibilities fall into three areas:

  • Global marketing strategy: setting the overall direction for how FXTM communicates with prospective and existing clients across markets.
  • Product development: working with the teams that build and refine trading offerings, so that marketing messages match what clients actually receive.
  • Client acquisition: bringing new traders to the brand and converting them into active accounts.

Combining product development with marketing is a useful structure. When the people deciding what to promote also influence what is offered, the risk of overpromising falls, and feedback from clients can shape the next product rather than arriving only as a complaint.

What This Means for FXTM Traders

An appointment like this does not, on its own, change account conditions, spreads, platforms or the regulation that applies to a client's account. The announcement does not describe any such changes. Traders will mainly notice a new marketing direction over time, through campaigns, promotions, educational content and changes to the product range.

If you already trade with FXTM or are considering it, the sensible approach is to judge the broker on the same things you would judge any broker on, regardless of who runs marketing:

  1. Check the regulation. Confirm which entity your account is held with and which regulator oversees it. Regulation varies by entity and by region.
  2. Read the full cost structure. Look at spreads, commissions, swaps and any withdrawal or inactivity fees on the official FXTM website.
  3. Test the platform. Open a demo account and confirm that the platform, order types and execution suit your strategy.
  4. Treat promotions with care. Bonuses and marketing offers can look attractive, but read the conditions on withdrawals and trading volume before you accept one.
  5. Start small. Fund a modest account first and increase your exposure only once you understand how the broker behaves in real conditions.

How to Compare Brokers Before You Open an Account

Changes in leadership are one signal among many. If you are weighing up brokers, it helps to compare the same criteria across several firms rather than relying on a single brand's messaging. Our reviews of XM Group and JustMarkets set out how each broker is structured, which regulators it operates under, and what traders should check before funding an account.

Useful points of comparison include:

  • Regulatory licences held by the specific entity you would sign up with
  • Typical spreads on the instruments you trade, measured during your own trading hours
  • Deposit and withdrawal methods, processing times and any fees
  • Platform choice, stability and available tools such as charting and automation
  • Quality of customer support and the clarity of the terms and conditions

Marketing Leadership and Trust in Online Brokers

For many retail traders, a broker's brand is the first thing they see, which is why marketing leadership matters. Good marketing explains products clearly and sets realistic expectations. Poor marketing leans on high-leverage promises and bonus offers that obscure the risks. Traders should look for brokers whose messaging about risk is as prominent as their messaging about opportunity.

Trading CFDs and forex carries a high risk of losing money quickly because of leverage. Only trade with money you can afford to lose, and make sure you understand how a position's value can move against you before you open it.
