Rising Africa Trader Cup: Equal-Start Africa Demo Trading With USD1,000 in Prizes
EBC Financial Group ran a month-long africa demo trading competition across 37 African countries, with a USD1,000 prize pool, 20 prize positions and equal starting equity for every participant. The competition ran from 3 to 31 August 2026.
EBC Financial Group (EBC) has run the Rising Africa Trader Cup, an africa demo trading competition open to eligible traders in 37 African countries. The month-long contest ran from 3 to 31 August 2026 and offered a total prize pool of USD 1,000 across 20 prize positions. Every participant traded with the same virtual starting equity, so results could be compared on equal terms.

A trading strategy can look convincing on paper, but its real test comes when markets move. Testing it with live capital before it has been proven can be expensive. A demo competition offers a lower-risk way to put ideas into practice, review the results and identify what needs to change.
Andria Phiniefs, Marketing Director at EBC Financial Group, said, "Trading skill develops through practice, discipline and a clear understanding of risk. The Rising Africa Trader Cup gives participants a practical way to test their strategies, learn from the results and refine their approach before trading with live capital. We want the competition to be exciting, but also useful. Participants should finish with a clearer view of how they trade, what worked in their approach and what they could improve."
Open to Eligible Traders in 37 African Countries
The competition was open to verified EBC clients in 37 African countries, including South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya. Participants traded with virtual funds, which allowed them to test strategies, manage risk and measure performance without committing live capital.
To enter, each participant had to meet the following conditions:
- Be a verified EBC client resident in one of the 37 eligible African countries.
- Create a new demo account from 3 August 2026.
- Start with equity of USD 10,000 and no open positions.
- Enter with only one account per client.
- Make no additional deposits during the competition.
The equal starting balance was central to the design. Because no participant began with an advantage in capital, the ranking reflected how each trader managed their approach rather than how much money they started with.
How the Africa Demo Trading Ranking Worked
Rankings were based on return rate, calculated as profit divided by equity at registration and expressed as a percentage. Since every eligible participant began with the same USD 10,000 in demo equity, the return rate gave a fair basis for comparison throughout the competition period.
If two participants achieved the same return rate, the trader with the higher cumulative closed trading volume received the higher ranking. This rule rewarded active, completed trading rather than a single lucky result, although traders still needed a positive return to be eligible for a prize.
Prizes and Key Competition Details
The competition offered cash prizes across 20 positions, not just the top three. The first-place winner was due to receive USD 300. The summary below sets out the main terms.

Prizes were awarded solely according to the ranking criteria. EBC reminded participants that prize incentives should not drive trading decisions and that every strategy should rest on careful risk assessment.
A Simulated Setting for Testing Strategies
The Rising Africa Trader Cup gave participants a simulated environment in which they could explore their approach without risking personal capital. Traders could try different methods, observe how they performed as markets moved and review the results in detail. The competition also offered a practical introduction to the trading environment before deciding whether to trade with live capital.
EBC describes its trading infrastructure as institutional-grade. The company states that it connects directly to more than 25 top-tier liquidity venues through its professional HUB infrastructure and Smart Order Routing engine. Its published platform figures include more than 1,000 orders processed per second, an average execution speed of 20 milliseconds and 98.75% data-transmission stability.
These platform metrics are based on historical and simulated system performance under specific market conditions. They are provided for informational purposes only and are not a guarantee of future execution speeds or fill rates. Results may be affected by market volatility, liquidity and system latency.
Traders who are comparing providers before opening a live account may find it useful to read independent reviews. Our XM Group review covers one of the established brokers in this space, and traders interested in funded-account programmes can look at our FundingPips review. Each review should be checked against the provider's current terms before making a decision.
Supporting Better-Informed Trading Across Africa
The Rising Africa Trader Cup forms part of EBC's wider focus on trading education, risk awareness and informed decision-making. By giving every participant the same starting point and a full month to apply their ideas, the competition aimed to encourage a more considered approach to trading across the continent.
Demo competitions are most useful when participants treat them as a learning exercise. Keeping a trading journal, reviewing losing trades as well as winning ones, and testing the same approach across different market conditions can provide more insight than chasing a ranking.
