ZXCM Forex Broker: ZXCM Regulation and Safety
Regulation is the first thing to check with any broker, and ZXCM is no exception. According to the broker's legal information, ZX Capital Markets Ltd, which trades as ZXCM, is authorised by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) of Seychelles as a Securities Dealer under licence SD214. The legal pages also mention a separate Saint Lucia registration for the same company.
The details do not fully line up across sources. The FSA register lists the company's address on IMAD Complex, Unit 102d, Ground Floor, Ile Du Port, Mahé, while the broker's website shows IMAD Complex, 3rd Floor, Office 12, Ile Du Port, Mahé. When details conflict, the regulator's register should carry more weight. Before you open an account, search the FSA register yourself, confirm the licence number and company name match, and read the client agreement to see which entity you would be contracting with.
A Seychelles licence is generally considered a lighter regulatory framework than those of major jurisdictions such as the UK or Australia. That does not make it unsafe by default, but it does mean you should not assume the same level of client protection. Ask how client funds are held, whether they are segregated from company money, and what compensation options exist if the broker fails. If those answers are not clear in writing, that is a warning sign in itself.
ZXCM Forex Broker: ZXCM Account Types
ZXCM lists four account tiers. The minimum deposit rises sharply from one to the next, so choose based on capital and trading style rather than on the lowest headline spread.
| Account | Minimum deposit | Max leverage | Spread from (pips) | Commission (USD per lot) | Instruments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | 100 USD | 1:500 | 1.00 | Not stated | Indices, metals, commodities, forex |
| ECN | 2,000 USD | 1:500 | 0.27 | Not stated in table | Futures, indices, metals, commodities, forex |
| Islamic | 500 USD | 1:500 | 1.20 | Not stated | Not stated |
| VIP | 50,000 USD | 1:500 | 0.0 | Negotiable | Not stated |
Other published conditions include a 20% stop-out level, USD as the base currency, and permission to use Expert Advisors. The Islamic account lists swap-free terms for 7 days on major forex pairs and gold. Swap-free conditions like this usually come with rules on how long positions can stay open, so read those terms closely if you plan to hold trades overnight.
For a small account, the Pro tier is the only option with a 100 USD minimum. For an ECN-style execution model with tighter spreads, the ECN tier requires 2,000 USD. Traders with larger balances may want to ask about VIP terms directly, since commission there is negotiable.
ZXCM Fees, Spreads and Commissions
Trading costs decide whether a broker is worth using at all, so it helps to separate the spread from the commission. The spread is the gap between the buy and sell price. The commission is a separate charge per trade, usually quoted per lot. A low spread with a high commission can cost the same as a higher spread with no commission.
The published figures for ZXCM are not fully consistent. Our database lists spreads from 0.2 pips, while the account table shows 0.27 pips on the ECN tier and 1.00 pip on the Pro tier. The commission on the ECN account is shown as 7 USD per lot in one part of the broker's information and as not stated in the account table. Because of this, do not rely on any single figure. Check the live spread and commission on the account page, then test them in a demo or with a small deposit.
Ask about other costs as well. Look for inactivity fees, withdrawal charges, currency conversion costs and overnight swap rates. Spreads also widen during news releases, rollovers and volatile sessions, so a quoted average may differ from what you get when you trade.
Platforms and Trading Features
ZXCM offers MetaTrader 5 across desktop, web and mobile, along with a WebTrader browser option and mobile apps. MT5 is widely used and supports multiple order types, technical indicators, and Expert Advisors, which is a key feature if you run automated strategies. Traders familiar with MT4 should note that MT5 has a different interface and some features are not directly comparable.
Listed instruments include forex, precious metals, commodities, cash indices and futures. The exact instruments available can vary by account type, as the account table shows, so confirm that your preferred market is offered on the tier you choose.
When testing the platform, pay attention to chart stability and execution during busy hours, such as the London and New York overlap or major data releases. Place small test orders at those times and note any requotes, slippage or delays.
ZXCM Deposits and Withdrawals
ZXCM lists the same set of funding methods for deposits and withdrawals: bank wire (SWIFT), bank wire (SEPA), Visa, MasterCard, Tether and Skrill. The account base currency is USD. Using a method that matches the currency and account can avoid unnecessary conversion charges.
Before depositing, confirm the minimum deposit for your chosen account, any processing fees charged by the broker or your payment provider, and how long withdrawals take in practice. Withdrawals are where many traders run into problems, so ask about verification requirements and whether a withdrawal must go back to the same method used for the deposit. Keep records of every transaction in case you need to raise a dispute.
ZXCM Bonuses and Promotions
The current highlight is a 100% deposit bonus. A bonus that doubles your deposit sounds attractive, but these offers almost always carry conditions, such as trading volume requirements, withdrawal restrictions until the bonus is cleared, or limits on which accounts qualify. Bonus funds are not the same as your own money, and removing them can be harder than it looks.
Read the full terms before accepting any bonus. Check the expiry date, the trading volume needed to unlock funds, whether profits from bonus trading can be withdrawn, and what happens to the bonus if you close the account early. If the terms are unclear, it is safer to decline the bonus and trade with your own capital.
ZXCM Customer Support
Our information on ZXCM's support channels is limited, so we cannot give a verified rating for response times or service quality. Before funding, test support directly. Send a pre-sales question about spreads or withdrawals and see how quickly and clearly it is answered. Check whether support is available in your language and during the hours you trade. Clear, written answers to fee and withdrawal questions are a better sign than fast but vague replies.
How to Check ZXCM Before You Deposit
- Search the FSA register and confirm licence SD214 and the company name match the broker's legal pages.
- Compare the company address on the regulator's listing with the address on the website, and note any differences.
- Open a demo account and check spreads, order execution and charts on MT5 during busy hours.
- Ask support for the full commission schedule, swap rates and any inactivity or withdrawal fees in writing.
- Read the bonus terms and withdrawal conditions before accepting any promotion.
- Start with a small deposit and make a test withdrawal to see how the process works in practice.
Who ZXCM Is For
ZXCM may suit traders who want a low minimum deposit to start with MT5, or who want to use Expert Advisors and access a range of forex, metals, indices and futures. The low entry point on the Pro account is its clearest advantage. Traders who value strong regulatory protection, a long track record or a fully transparent fee structure may want to compare other options first. For reference, you can read our reviews of XM Group, JustMarkets and FBS Inc to compare how brokers handle licensing, costs and account structures.
Trading leveraged products such as forex and CFDs carries a high risk of losing money quickly, and leverage of 1:500 magnifies both gains and losses. Only trade with money you can afford to lose, and make sure you understand how margin and stop-out levels work before opening a position.
